The JET (miniature central tube non-metallic optical cable) is designed with a specific structure. It involves placing 250μm single-mode or multi-mode optical fibers inside a loose tube made of high modulus material. This loose tube is then filled with a waterproof compound. Additionally, a non-metallic strength member, specifically made of aramid, is stranded around the outside of the loose tube. Finally, the cable is extruded with a sheath made of black or colored high-density polyethylene (HDPE), resulting in a complete and functional cable.
Main Features
To ensure the waterproof performance of the optical cable, the following measures are implemented:
- Single Steel Wire/FRP Central Strengthening Core: The central part of the cable is reinforced with either a single steel wire or FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) to enhance the structural strength and stability.
- Filling of Loose Tube with Special Waterproof Compound: The loose tube of the optical cable is filled with a specialized waterproof compound. This compound effectively prevents moisture ingress, ensuring that water cannot penetrate the interior of the cable.
- Complete Core Filling: The core of the cable, which consists of optical fiber and cladding material, is completely filled to prevent moisture from entering. The filling process is carried out meticulously to ensure high-quality and uniform filling, thereby improving the overall waterproof performance.
- Plastic-Coated Aluminum Tape (APL) Moisture Barrier: A layer of plastic-coated aluminum tape (APL) is applied to the external covering of the fiber optic cable. This protective coating acts as a moisture barrier, effectively preventing the intrusion of moisture and humidity into the cable.
By implementing these measures, the optical cable can have excellent waterproof performance, significantly enhancing its service life and reliability.
Here are some additional features:
The steel wire strand has an exceptionally high tensile strength, making it convenient for self-supporting overhead laying. This characteristic reduces installation costs by eliminating the need for additional support structures.
The optical cable exhibits superior mechanical properties, ensuring its resilience and durability in various installation scenarios. Additionally, it possesses excellent temperature properties, allowing it to maintain its performance even in extreme temperature conditions.
The loose tube material itself is designed with excellent hydrolysis resistance and high strength. This ensures long-term reliability and protection for the optical fibers within the cable, even in humid or wet environments.
To provide critical protection to the delicate optical fibers, the loose tube is filled with a specially formulated ointment. This ointment acts as a barrier, safeguarding the fibers against moisture, physical damage, and other environmental factors, thus ensuring their optimal performance and longevity.
By incorporating these improvements, the optical cable demonstrates enhanced tensile strength, mechanical durability, temperature resistance, and moisture protection. These qualities contribute to its cost-effectiveness, reliability, and suitability for various installation scenarios.
