This hybrid fiber copper cable consists of a 250μm optical fiber inserted into a high modulus material loose tube, which is then filled with a waterproof compound. The cable structure typically includes a central reinforcement made of FRP or metal, and in some cases, a layer of PE cushion is added to the reinforcement. To form a compact and circular cable core, wires, loose tubes (and filling ropes) are twisted around the central reinforcing core. The gaps within the core are filled with water-blocking fillers. The cable is further strengthened by longitudinally wrapping double-sided plastic-coated steel tape (PSP) and then covered with a polyethylene or low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) sheath through an extrusion process.
